The Stillwater Gallery showcases Ron Smid’s collection of photographs taken during his three decades of documenting the Canadian landscape on film.
What was once a rustic barn has been transformed into Canada’s largest traditional photographic landscape gallery where Smid continues to work with black and white silver gelatin – a darkroom process from the 1870s known for its three-dimensional qualities and timeless beauty.
Located in the forest outside Powell River, the surroundings amplify the viewer’s experience and allow for a deep appreciation for both the traditional art of photography and the natural world.
